Amy Cavanaugh

imageAMY CAVANAUGH lives in Chicago, where she writes about food and drink, travel, and culture for magazines and newspapers. She has toured wineries in Nova Scotia and Spain, visited night markets in Taipei, eaten her way through the Houston Rodeo, attended the annual Barbie convention, and written about these and many other topics.

Amy is the weekend editor at Chicagoist, where she covers food, the arts, and news. She also writes the Foodie in Residence blog for WTTW’s Check, Please!, advises Chicago visitors where to eat for Choose Chicago, the city’s tourism bureau, and is an editor at Forbes Travel Guide.

Her writing has recently appeared in the Boston GlobeChicago Tribune, Eater, Plate Magazine, Serious Eats, The Brooklyn RailTime Out Chicagoand elsewhere. Amy also teaches writing workshops for Chicago Public School students at 826 Chicago

Originally from Holyoke, Massachusetts, Amy lived in Washington, DC before moving to Chicago. She has a graduate degree in English from the University of Maryland and also attended Mount Holyoke College.
