Amy Cavanaugh lives in Chicago, where she writes and edits stories about food and drink, travel, and visual arts for magazines and newspapers. She has explored biodynamic wineries in Nova Scotia, eaten her way through Taipei, covered the annual Barbie convention, and written about these and many other topics.

Amy is the weekend editor at Chicagoist, and covers food, the arts, and local news for the site. Her writing has recently been published in the Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Plate Magazine, Serious Eats, Time Out Chicago, CS, The A.V. Club, CBS Chicago, and other print publications and websites.

Amy is from Massachusetts, and lived in Washington, DC for four years (she misses Ben’s Chili Bowl and free museums!) before arriving in Chicago in 2010. She has an M.A. in English from the University of Maryland and a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College.

Amy also teaches writing workshops and tutors Chicago Public School students at 826 Chicago. In her free time, she can be found indulging her love of books, baseball, dive bars, and bourbon.
